When Finale broke onto the scene a few years ago, you could see the reaction in the industry. That price does include a full range fo features that a pro company would require. The software is built for the pyro business and is priced to that level. We won a contract for Sky TV using the demo version to turn around a request for a visual of fireworks at a particular stately home near Frome. Showsim is certainly the more accomplished program and has been around for years in different variations. 1st galaxy use it as one of their development tools. I wonder if I did something wrong as I work in IT and don't normally struggle with new software. I personally did not find it easy to use at all since the menu and GUI rebuild. This is the granddaddy of simulation software and has some great bells and whistles. That can be useful when selecting effects. Have you looked at the design function where you type what you want and the firework is made for you right there. There are of course niggles with the software and I personally do not like the method of picking pyro. I have been in contact with Finale and they reassure me that development is still very much active but releases have slowed pending a slew of large changes to the software. Now when you look a year later the Finale releases have tailed off and it looks like development has stalled. I looked at it but decided that Finale was better and had a more active development. Yes you can use finale without an internet connection.
